Vintage Halloween Pin Up Photographs

Last week I shared some of the creepiest vintage Halloween photographs I could dig up on the web, but this week I thought I'd share the lighter side of the holiday's photographic past.

If you thought suggestive Halloween costumes were a modern phenomenon, boy were you wrong. Halloween has inspired ladies to get their sexy on for decades, including Betty Grable, as shown above. In the 1940s and 1950s when pin up photography was all the rage, ladies would trade in their house dresses for something a little more scandalous and pose for elaborate, Halloween-themed photo shoots. Here are some of my personal favorites!

  1. Hooraaay! Halloween pinups are my favorite. I may or may not have a bunch hanging in my apartment... year round, of course;) I've never seen the bending over/scarecrow one before.. ermm, menacing much?

I would do horrible, horrible things in order to own one of those witch & cat print playsuits in the last photo. Heart-stoppingly fabulous.

    Thanks for sharing lady!

  3. These are amazing. I love the one with the cat shadow in the corn stalks and the witch on the broomstick.
