I've been up to some pretty cool things the past few weeks.
1 // I got to see Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks! 2 // After spending over an hour in line, I finally got to experience the amazingness that is Voodoo Doughnut. If you're ever in town, you have to try a Captain, My Captain. Thank me later. 3 // Zack and I rescued this sweet little lady and her sister. Both rats were super sick when we got them, but $200 and two weeks of antibiotics later they're feeling great and causing all sorts of mayhem around the house. 4 // I literally spent two years looking for a first issue of God Bless Tiny Tim on vinyl, and I finally found one! For $5! Yes, I am aware that spending five minutes on the internet could have solved this years ago, but it was sort of fun to hunt for and was well worth it when I found a copy lurking in the back of my local record store.

5 // I'm so in love with this Tall Paul anatomical model my boss brought in for me to decorate my reception area. 6&7// I got to see (and meet!) We Are Scientists! And it was glorious. 8// Wash Park selfie times with Meg.
9 // While cleaning out my Nana's library I found an album of old photos of us in Scotland! This picture of me kicking it with the Loch Ness Monster in 1995 is basically the best. A dear friend of mine is currently scanning the album for me so I can have digital copies of all the pictures, so eventually I'll be sharing lots of photos from my early days in my homeland. 10 // Bitchface, because, why not. 11 // LunaTone has become quite the feisty little lady 12 // Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks had the coolest stage setup ever.

Other Happenings

  • Last week I went on my first-ever business trip! I made the three hour drive down to Trinidad, Colorado in the middle of the night and woke up at the crack of dawn the next day to perform a series of science shows for about 700 children. It was exhausting, but a pretty fun experience overall.
  • I got a sweet new haircut
  • I won season tickets to the Denver Outlaws! Lacrosse is one of the only sports I actually enjoy, and it's been a blast going to all of the home games so far.
  • In a few short hours I'll be hopping on a plane set for Georgia to surprise my baby brother for his high school graduation! I'll also get to see Courtney tomorrow for the first time since she's recovered from some pretty near-death business earlier this year. I'm really excited about this trip but also a little sad. My dad and step mom are moving to Seattle this summer, my brother Nick will be staying in Georgia with my nephew, my youngest brother Jake is joining the Marines and Courtney is currently living up in Virginia. So basically, unless someone gets married or dies, this will be the last time I get to see everyone in one place. Boo.

  1. Welcome back! Seems like you've been super busy! I love that anatomical model. I've been looking for one like that. One of my favorite local shops closed and they were selling everything. I bought a life size spine and pelvic bone model. It isn't vintage but I'm really stoked about it.
